Tian Korean-Chinese Restaurant in Ellicott City,MD

Went to Tian Korean-Chinese restaurant for lunch today. I posted several reviews of this restaurant since the restaurant's chef seems to change very often...so the taste seems to change often too...It seems like it's new restaurant everytime I go..ha ha ha...I haven't been there for a while since the bad experience I had last time.

Last time I went, their noodles for jjajangmyun seemed to be linguini pasta... And the sauce was weird too. I didn't go back after that.

But I heard that they started handmade noodles plus I was running late. I ate SamsunJjampong- seafood spicy noodle soup. Noodle was little thinner than I expected but it was chewy. Soup wasn't too spicy and just enough for me with lots of veggies. And our server was very nice and polite. Overall my experience today was good enough.

Ramyun/Instant Noodle Variation-Spicy Bibim Ramyun with Fresh Vegetables

I love eating noodles, pastas, ramyuns...oooo and ramyun is the quickest thing you can cook.

Perfect for the lazy afternoons. I wanted something spicy and sweet but didn't want to eat the hot noodle soup like last time, so I decided to play with this differently (I rarely cook ramyun plain. What's the fun in that?...ha ha).

Quick n’ easy Kimchi Tuna Spicy Sauce and Rice

After recovering from my nasty flu, my appetite has come back and I am craving so much different foods. I think I'm going to gain too much weight if I eat EVERYTHING I am craving these days...my craving has been going international and out of control...

For lunch, I wanted something instant and fast...but still something with a kick. Spicy and salty...yes...Mmmm

When I went grocery shopping, I realized I haven't been eating canned tuna for a while, so I just grabbed a 4-pack canned tuna today.

I'm planning to go eat Jjajangmyun later tonight (one of my must-eats now) so eating rice will balance the noodle I'm going to eat later. I'm so planned out with meal plans. LOL.

So anyway...if you ever want to try this here are the things I used:

Honey Pig Gooldaegee Korean B-B-Q

For Christmas, I went to Gool daegee, Honey Pig 2, Korean BBQ Restaurant in Ellicott City with my good friend June. This is the only restaurant around this area
that's 24hours open. Their main specialty is BBQ but they have many other
dishes and Entrees. June and I usually go for Pho to Pho Dat Thanh so a server there remembers us ha ha ha... but we decided to eat something different for
the Christmas.

I haven't had Samgyupsal for the longest time... so
we headed to Honey Pig. Samgyupsal(direct translation meaning Three layered meat) is like bacon but fresh not smoked. Oooooo~

We ordered 2 servings of Samgyupsal and each of us ordered cold noodle soup, Nangmyun. I ordered Mul Nangmyun and June ordered spicy Bibim Nangmyun.

Ramyun-Instant Noodles

One of 'single' easy meal (but can't say it's healthy) is ramyun.
So many kinds to choose from and all different variations to cook it too. What's your favorite?

These days you can basically find ramyun everywhere...grocery store...convenient stores...wow...
Not all ramyuns/ramen are spicy so you get to choose from non-spicy, mild, and very spicy!

When you want something really spicy Shin Ramyun is the way to go, but I personally think Shin Ramyun is TOO spicy. But many Koreans like Shin Ramyun.

Easy Korean Style Spicy Chicken Wings Recipe

I begged my mom for something fried dripping with spicy (yet sweet) sauce. Mmmmmmm...My mom, Young, got out the deep fryer (highly recommended when deep frying) and with Costco's individually packed wings....(we really like how they packaged it all separately in small servings)...she cooked me a wonderful spicy Korean wings.
Korean Spicy Wings
This kind of wings can also be called Yangnyum Dak. Yangnyum means sauce or marinade and Dak means chicken. Oh and if you don't want any sauce or want the sauce on the side just skip the last step and regular fried wings will be good as it is too! It's not hard at all (except for the frying part). Don't really like to be near hot oil. So shall we start?

Vit Goel-Lighthouse Tofu House-Korean Restaurant in Rockville, MD

Menu for Vit Goel Vit Goel Restaurant Specializes in Soondooboo/Soondubu Jjigae, which is Soft Tofu stew. I love their stew. There's another Vit Goel in Virginia, but I think Rockville Vit Goel tastes better. Sometimes they expect you to order as soon as you seat down...(impatient servers as usual) but their service is pretty good.

Since it specializes in Soondubu, there are many different style of Soondubu Jjigae and you can choose how spicy your stew will be. You can even choose to make it not spicy at all.

This is the menu on the table. You might need to ask for a menu if you want to order sushi but most of what they offer will be on this small menu. Top half is your choice of Tofu soup and bottom half is different dishes like Galbi, other seafood dishes. They marked spicy ones and nicely described ingredients so you should have no problem.

Allgreen Market-Poongnyun Foodcourt in Glen Burnie, MD

Remember the Fresh World International Market in Glen Burnie, MD?
Allgreen International Market
It is now under new management called Allgreen. Fresh World seemed to focus more on Latin groceries and etc. I couldn't really find good amount of Korean stuff. But Allgreen seem to organize aisles nicer with clearly labeled aisle signs. I'm not sure how much more Korean stuff they got though...if you know, please let us know if the change is better.

Well for my quick glance, other than the sign and some aisle changes (seemed like they are still figuring out where to place what...very far right wasn't used at all...) nothing much changed. Next time I get to go there, I'll look more into their inventory. Oh, they actually blocked the way to the cashier from the entrance side. I think they did it so that the traffic could flow through all the other side.

Anyhow...Poongnyun Restaurant or the food court remains the same along with the sushi bar. This time we tried Bibimbap (Many Namool/Cooked vegetables served over rice) and Jjamppong (spicy Korean Chinese noodle soup) this time. [Read more...]
