About

What's the first thing that pops in your mind when I say Korean Food?
Spicy Kimchi? Bulgogi? Sounds familiar?
Many people already know about Kimchi and Bulgogi, but what you might not know is that not all Kimchi is spicy and we don't just eat Bulgogi and BBQ all the time (although we like to do it often). There's more to Korean cuisine that we would like to share with you all.

Basics
Korean meal consists of cooked rice, kimchibanchan/sidedish, soup/stew, fish/meat. Unlike American or other European course meal, all of those are meant to be eaten together, rice to pair with all other dishes.

The traditional Korean dinner table should basically consist of every color food and all parts of the food pyramid, thus helping you to consume all the necessary nutrients. Nice~ But the reality is that these days it's hard to do such complete meal everyday. Although it may be simplified, Korean meal is a good way to consume many different nutrients especially with vegetables by having couple or more banchans to eat with cooked rice. And by now many already know that Korean dishes actually help you lose weight too. Right?

How do kimchibulgogi.com recipes get created?

Young,my mom, is a great cook and a great mom! Recipes are usually from my mom (sometimes from my aunts too). Usually she doesn't measure out when she cooks but just for you, she personally measures out each ingredients for the recipes and I take pictures and record every step while she cooks. So the recipes copyrighted by kimchibulgogi.com are all her creations with exact ingredients we put down! The pictures are "live" reports of our kitchen recipes, so If you follow our recipe, it is very likely that you'll get the same result as ours.

So go on and explore~ ask us any questions about Korean food and get to know more about different dishes! Enjoy!

Anna & Young
We live near Baltimore, MD and this area is a very diverse community. Everyone is not afraid to try new stuff! I love that. I have met many non-Koreans who are quite Korean food connoisseurs and I'm sure you are one of them! So we hope we can help you. I am very happy that Korean cuisine is surfacing and starting to be distinguished as "Korean" and we would like everyone to learn from Korean rather than from others.  So, I asked my Mama Young, who's a wonderful (and the BEST) cook, to share her recipes with everyone!

We are partners in many things such as DIY projects throughout the house and usually drag all of our family to do it together too! We like to change our house around or paint rooms or wallpaper..anything to change the mood of the house inexpensively. ( I think the DIY projects are more worth the time if the change didn't cost you too much as well as looking nice.)

Oh and just to let youknow, we might post some other cuisines in the future too since we don't just eat Korean all the time...we just love food! I believe you can't really say you don't like something till you try it. Let's not be afraid to try new things. So don't be afraid!

My mom and I are camera-shy but we still wanted this site to be as personal as it can be... so we'll post our forever baby "Nine." I'm sure he won't mind. He came to our house when he was about 4 years old. He's about 9 years old now, but he's still our baby and will always be.

    Hey Anna!
This was quite a treasure to find. I was looking up zucchini jun to show what it looks like to one of my friends and I happened to find your site first. After poking around some, I noticed that you’re in Baltimore. So am I! Rather.. I live in Carroll County (Finksburg), but I went to school in Bmore and visit quite often. Anywho… great blog and definitely keep it up : )

Also, adorable dog. Adorable! Our dogs should meet. A 1 year old min pin and a 9 year old man would make for an interesting experience.
    Take it easy!

    Hello Anna,
Thank you and your mom for taking the time to share recipes with us. We love banchan and these recipes will help us to experience Korean food as we don’t live near a Korean restaurant.

Kimchi is one of my favorite foods–it ranks somewhere among my top five favorites depending on what sounds good at the time.
